Introduction to the work of Chana Orloff
From 1912 (first sculpture presented) till 1968, date of her death, Chana Orloff never ceased sculpting. Almost 500 referenced sculptures.
She tried all materials. Initially wood (at the beginning recovered on the building sites), then stone, marble, terra cotta or cement. But as soon as she could afford it, she worked again practically all her works to make them cast in bronze - often adapting them to this specific material.
This is why the great majority of her works exist in several different materials.
We propose two approaches to her work:
- Chronological a path which we advise for a first discovery
- Circuits based on themes (animals, portraits, maternities...)
